Majors Thomas & Jennifer Richmond

Arriving in Manatee County in June of 2023, The Richmond’s have been Officers with The Salvation Army at commands in Kentucky,  Georgia, West Virginia, Mobile, Alabama and again in Louisville, Kentucky.  During their 26 years in ministry, they have pastored three churches, directed two resident Summer Camps, over saw three Boys & Girls Clubs, sat on the Divisional Board as Youth Leaders and Divisional Secretaries for Personnel/Social Services and Women’s Ministries.  They have been Area Commanders twice and they did this all with a smile on their faces and a song in their heart.

Thomas is a fifth generation Salvationist, which means his family has been members since the 1880’s.  Jennifer, who was raised in the Methodist Church, knew nothing of The Salvation Army until she met Thomas.  It was their love of music that brought them together while on a band trip in Hawaii.  Jenny said, “It was love at first sight”!  The Richmond’s have been married for 43 years and have been blessed by God with three amazing sons, three wonderful daughters in love and five fantastic grandchildren.  They have also recently welcomed an Irish Doodle named Remi into their family.

Thomas had an exciting career in law enforcement for 16 years while Jenny worked in pharmaceuticals and retail until they answered the call in 1995 to full time ministry as members of “The Messengers of God’s Love Session” at The College for Officer’s Training in Atlanta, Georgia.
